What does gold filled mean?
Despite its somewhat misleading name, “gold-filled” jewelry is not actually filled with gold. To make gold-fill jewelry, multiple layers of solid gold are pressure-bonded to a core of high-quality jewellers brass using extreme heat. (Industry standards dictate that your piece must be 5% solid gold by weight.) The result is a thick layer of real gold and a durable, long-lasting product. Gold-fill jewelry is a great alternative to solid gold, as it offers the ideal balance of quality and value.
What is gold vermeil?
Gold vermeil jewelry has a base of sterling silver, and is plated with gold on top. Please note the layer of gold is thinner than that of gold filled pieces. After extended wear, gold vermeil pieces may begin to show the silver underneath. So please use extra care with vermeil so that it will stay brilliant and shiny for years to come.
How do I clean and care for my jewelry?
Gold Filled Pieces
Gold filled jewelry is a great affordable alternative to solid gold jewelry. With the proper care, your gold filled pieces can last a lifetime but it will depend on a variety of things. Chemicals, perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, sunscreens, and humidity can have an effect on your piece. If you don't want your jewelry to loose it's shine, we recommend taking it off before swimming, working out, and putting on products in the morning. Gently rinse off your jewelry at the end of the day and store in an airtight container, like a ziplock!
Sterling Silver Pieces
925 Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Your sterling silver pieces will oxidize over time due to being exposed to the elements. To clean a tarnished piece gently polish with a silver cloth.
Gold Vermeil and Gold Plated Pieces
Please be sure to take your pieces off before going in water or working out if you want to maintain the longevity of the piece. We also recommend putting your jewelry on after you have applied perfume and other sprays such as sun screen. To clean your piece gently buff it with a dry soft cloth and store in your pouch or in a soft cloth separate from your other jewelry. This is to ensure you don't get any unwanted scratches.
How is your jewelry packaged?
We want to be as eco-friendly as possible, and packaging is a way we put this practice into action. To cut down on unnecessary packaging, we will place up to 4 pieces into the same gift box. However, if you would like them separately packaged, please leave us a note at the checkout. All of our jewelry comes in a lovely box, ready to be given as a gift!
